Psychological and Psycho-Educational Evaluations

Mrs. Draper provides psychological and psycho-educational evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a variety of intellectual, academic, behavioral, emotional, and/or social concerns. Based on the presenting concerns, an evaluation may include assessment measures from any of the following areas: cognitive (IQ), educational, behavioral/emotional, social, adaptive behavior, memory, observations, parent/teacher/client interviews, and developmental history. Evaluations are comprehensive in nature and ensure that an accurate picture of your child's strengths and needs is rendered, thus resulting in a relevant and appropriate treatment plan. Furthermore, when appropriate, school accommodations and modifications will be recommended to ensure that your child's needs are met in the school environment as well.

Evaluations may address any of the following areas (List in not exclusive):

  • Learning Disabilities

  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Anxiety, Depression, and other internalizing problems

  • Behavioral Issues

  • Developmental Delay

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Giftedness, including Early Kindergarten Assessment

All evaluations include an initial consultation session, written report with recommendations for both home and school, and feedback session.

Behavioral Consultation and Therapy

Behavioral Consultation is provided in order to answer questions and discuss concerns you may have regarding your child's development, learning, behavioral and emotional functioning, and social skills. Once areas of concern have been identified, mitigating factors will be considered in order to identify the triggers and reinforcers of the concerning behavior. Then a treatment plan will be put in place to address and monitor the targeted behavior(s). Treatment will follow a positive behavior support model with development of appropriate coping skills and/or replacement behaviors as well as parent training as needed. Behavioral Consultation is intended to be a short-term treatment approach. If progress in not demonstrated during Behavioral Consultation alone, then a comprehensive evaluation and/or therapy may be recommended.
